Ottawa Bus Accident Victims

Ottawa Bus Accident Victims

Danielle BartlettWhether it is psychological trauma, physical injury or both, we know that the road to recovery after a bus accident is long and often fraught with obstacles.

Whether you were a pedestrian or bus passenger, you have legal rights following a bus accident that may include full compensation for:

  • Pain and suffering;
  • Loss of income (past and future);
  • Housekeeping needs;
  • Your family or partner’s care and nursing and the impact on your relationship;
  • Rehabilitation and medical needs; and
  • Any assistive devices you may need to hasten your recovery.

As an alternative to a GoFundMe account, Ontario accident victims are entitled to receive Statutory Accident Benefits. These benefits will pay for your medical and rehabilitative treatment and include: physiotherapy, occupational therapy and any other necessary health care. You may also be entitled to receive income replacement benefits while you are unable to work.

These benefits are paid by your own auto insurance or the insurance of a family member you reside with. If you do not have access to an auto insurance policy, you are entitled to receive accident benefits funded by the City of Ottawa’s insurance policy.

We can assist with you filling out your OCF-1 application, as well as notifying the City of Ottawa of your claim.

Our experienced personal injury lawyers have represented various OC Transpo bus accident victims, including victims of the OC Transpo Via Rail bus/train collision in 2013. In addition to representing you in your legal claim against the at-fault driver, we will assist you with securing your accident benefits and rehabilitative needs every step of the way.
